Homeless children.
The two words put together should inspire absolute consternation, but in this world of shock jock radio and TMZ television, it is just one more problem that the average person feels powerless to solve.
Homeless children.
While I sit here and simply write about it, Gloria Molina does something about it. Gloria Molina is my new hero...
Homeless children, allowed to starve by their parents, or killed by their parents. This is the darkness that Gloria Molina attempts to shine some light on to and protect those that can't protect themselves.
There are no manuals on how to do this if you are NOT working for the government, but in addition to the all the solutions I've detailed below, all of them involve the following:
Getting involved in other people's business to protect those that can't protect themselves.
If we don't, we risk witnessing the senseless death of helpless children: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-mikeal30jan30,0,1610928,full.story

Touche my good man, touche! I send you an article about how ineffective it is for teachers to blame parents (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/29/AR2008012901040.html)
for struggling schools. And you the reply with an article about the efficacy and monumental need for intervention in the home.
Touche!
